Here are just a few simple car repairs you can do to save money:
Fix An Exterior Coolant Leak
If you notice antifreeze (generally this will be a green liquid but it may also be yellow or orange) pooling under your car, you have a coolant leak. If you’re lucky, this will be an exterior leak. Pop your hood right after stopping the car and look for antifreeze escaping from a cracked hose. If you find a cracked hose, all you have to do is unclamp the hose and swap it out with one of ours.
Replace Your Car’s Brake Pads
If you hear squealing when you hit the brakes, that means it’s time to replace your pads. This is an easy replacement that you can probably knock out in a few hours. Replace them sooner rather than later to avoid damaging your rotor. Replacing rotors is also something you can do yourself, but it’s more difficult than just fixing the pads.
Replace a Battery or Alternator
If your car won’t start and your electronics aren’t turning on, you probably either have a bad battery or alternator. Swapping in another battery is very easy. While installing a new alternator is slightly more complicated, it’s something most novice mechanics should be able to take care of without too much worry.
