On any holiday, it’s important to be extra alert on the road. And especially on Halloween with children running all over the place, it’s even more crucial! We always advocate for safe driving, but this holiday we want you to take the extra steps to maximize your safety and others. Here’s a few things to keep in mind:
- Drive slowly. While parents encourage their kids to stay on the sidewalks, you know there’s going to be a few that sprint across the street. Look both ways constantly, and drive with caution. Note: when cars are stopped in front of you, don’t drive around them, as they may be dropping off children. Treat it like a school bus!
- No texting. You should never text or call on the road, but it’s extra important on Halloween. You want to be 100% distraction free, so keep your hands on the wheel and off your phone at all times.
- Communicate. It’s important on Halloween to communicate with other drivers and pedestrians. Make sure to use your turn signals and follow all rules to the max, and pay close attention to pedestrians at crosswalks and intersections.
- No drinking and driving. While this rule is always the case, we can’t stress it enough on Halloween. No one wants to be responsible for hitting another car or worse, a child on Halloween night. If you’re at a party and will be drinking, make a plan to have a sober friend drive you home, or use a taxi service like Uber or Lyft to get you home. Take advantage of this Uber coupon through the month of October to save you a few extra bucks that night.
